At Performance Research, we are committed to building the most highly capable and motivated research team.

Realizing there is little opportunity for learning about sponsorship research in academic settings, Performance Research has set up an internship program for those interested in pursuing careers in the sponsorship industry.

Performance Research believes that on-the-job experience through internships provides the most effective transition from either college to full time careers or as a career change. We understand that internships must be challenging, educational and fun, so we take extra care to ensure that the host / internship relationship is a meaningful one.

We open one position for interns just one or two times each year. Interns are an important part of our team, and you will be treated like any other member of our staff. This is your chance to gain invaluable experience and truly make your mark. Many past interns have secured full-time positions at Performance Research or challenging careers at other sports and special event organizations.

No specific academic background is required, however strong writing skills, a great attitude toward work, a sincere interest in learning, and a high energy level are the qualities we most seek.

Internship benefits

Travel (occasionally weekends) throughout the United States to sports and special events, collecting data by conducting sponsorship interviews with sports fans or event attendees

All travel and accommodation expenses are paid during research trips

Gain experience working within our in-house telephone research facility

Assist in the generation of research tabulations

Design, and write sponsorship research reports and presentations using PowerPoint and Word

Opportunity to receive course credit

Internship structure

Full internships are for 10-12 week periods, depending on time of year.

Our internship program runs year-round, however positions are often limited to spring and summer months.

The program requires a minimum of 45 hours per week; office hours are 8:30 am – 5:45 pm

Any weekend work trips are mandatory and additional to the set 45 hr/wk

Interns are responsible for finding and paying for all accommodations and utilities during the internship

Performance Research will provide classifieds and realtor leads to help with your accommodation search

We also ask you to provide us with a writing sample, it can be anything you have written and are proud of. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be about sponsorship, marketing, or research; we are far more interested in your writing style and communication strengths. The sample should be between one and ten pages in length.
